A common is a piece of land open for public use. Let us build a Catholic Common.

The Catholic Common

The Catholic Common

The mission of the Catholic Common is to build a digital “space” where people can:

  • Find local Catholic events and ways to give back to their communities

  • Find Catholic-owned businesses near them to support

  • Find helpful resources to grow spiritually, intellectually, professionally, and relationally

  • Submit different events, volunteer opportunities, and Catholic-owned businesses to advertise (for free)

“we have a better chance of survival if we stick together.”

Suggestion box

“What we do in life echoes in eternity.”

- Maximus Decimus Meridius (Gladiator)

This suggestion box is meant more for things I should add to the functionality of the website as a whole. If you would like to submit specific events, Catholic-owned businesses, volunteer opportunities, and/or resources to advertise (for free), please sign up for the “City of God” subscription and, once logged in there, scroll to the bottom where you will find how to submit specific information.

FAQS

  • Yes! My goal is to start with New England and to expand.

  • My goal is to make this a free network. I don't think that money should ever stand between someone and the possibility of connecting with other faithful Catholics. That said, if you are in a position where you could contribute and the Catholic Common has added value to your life, then I would invite you to make a donation to help me continue pursuing this work. I will totally judge you if you don't. Just kidding! But there is a place where you can make a donation if you are so inclined.

  • I live in Boston and I am fortunate to be surrounded by some fairly active groups. So, a part of the inspiration was the desire to start connecting the various organic organizations around me. Additionally, there are a lot of different Catholic resources out there, and so another one of my goals is to sift through those and suggest the most helpful ones. Lastly, I wanted to start promoting Catholic-owned businesses, and growing a community that can help those businesses to flourish would be an amazing thing!

  • If you represent a parish, club, business, or some other type of organization and would like me to consider advertising (for free) information about your organization, events, or volunteer opportunities, please sign up for the "City of God" subscription. Once you login, scroll to the bottom and you will see a section with further information about advertising specific events, businesses, et cetera.

  • There is a Catholic teaching known as the Principle of Subsidiarity, which says social and political decision-making should occur at the local level. So, my goal is not to supplant any organization, but rather to supply a bird’s-eye view of the different organizations that already exist. I do envision offering events and resources, but this would only be in response to a perceived gap. Again, the Catholic Common exists to promote all the good stuff that is already out there.
